EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, also known as EMDR, is a structured therapy approach designed to help individuals process and reduce the impact of distressing memories, trauma, and anxiety. EMDR focuses on helping the brain reprocess experiences that may feel “stuck,” allowing them to be integrated in a healthier way.

This approach is often used as part of a broader treatment plan to support emotional healing and long-term stability.

What To Expect from EMDR

At Valley Psychological Group, EMDR sessions are designed to help clients process and reduce the impact of distressing experiences. Using a structured, evidence-based approach, EMDR helps the brain reprocess memories that may be contributing to ongoing emotional or psychological challenges. Sessions may include:

  • Identifying and safely exploring distressing memories or experiences

  • Using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation

  • Reducing the emotional intensity connected to past events

  • Improving emotional regulation and response to triggers

  • Developing healthier thought patterns and beliefs

  • Strengthening coping skills for long-term stability

  • Applying insights gained in therapy to daily life for lasting benefits

Our providers guide clients through EMDR therapy in a supportive and controlled environment to promote emotional healing and resilience. Over time, many clients experience reduced distress, improved clarity, and a greater sense of control in their day-to-day lives.
